•You are able to have an area of your body scanned to evaluate for any abnormality. IF your final report states something has been found, you’re able to take that to your doctor and take the appropriate steps needed.
•All exams are read and dictated by board certified radiologists and they’ll email you your final report.
•You pay out of pocket for these exams but will receive a receipt which you can turn into your insurance and see if they’re able to cover any of the cost. HSA & FSA payments are accepted.
An ultrasound of your Aorta would determine whether or not you have plaque build up or dilation of your major artery that travels from your heart down your abdomen. We would image your descending aorta, meaning from the area of your diaphragm down your abdomen to where it splits to go into your legs.
Reasons to have it done:
•family history of AAA
•history of smoking
•high blood pressure or high cholesterol
An ultrasound of your kidneys could determine if you have kidney stones, cysts or a back up of fluid due to a blockage.
Some reasons to look at your kidneys:
•back pain
•history of kidney stones
Scanning your complete abdomen would include:
aorta
pancreas
gallbladder
liver
kidneys
spleen
reasons to scan your abdomen:
•pain
•screen for any sort of abnormality (can be used to compare in later exams)
•family history of gallstones, kidney stones
•personal history of alcoholism
Screening of the pelvis for women include uterus, ovaries, endometrium, adnexas. Would be able to evaluate for free fluid, cysts, thickened endometrium.
reasons for screening of the pelvis:
•pain
•family or personal history of ovarian cysts
•personal history of breast cancer and have had to use tamoxifen
•abnormal or irregular bleeding
•painful intercourse
In some cases, you’re unsure of when you had your last menstrual cycle which can make it tricky to know how far along you are if you’ve had a positive pregnancy test. Sometimes it can be difficult to get into your OB to have an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy or there‘s times they won’t see you until you’re past 12 weeks. Paying for this ultrasound, you’re able to confirm pregnancy but also get more information about dates. You can then take the final report you have to your doctor and they can go from there.
